Coloquio 6
Music for wind ensembles was a regular form of entertainment in the last decades of the 18th century. A combination of clarinet, horn, bassoon and oboe duos was easy to put together, both in public places and in the home. All kinds of popular music – from opera favourites to entire symphonies – were adapted for a wind sextet or octet. But even the best composers wrote new music for this type of instrumentation, often revealing their most cheerful side.
