Abdel Rahman El Bacha
Chopin 1842-1845
Chopins oeuvre consists almost entirely of works for solo piano: extremely demanding at a technical level, but with subtle nuance and expressive depth. Between 1842 and 1845, Chopin was in an intense but difficult relationship with the writer George Sand. It is also a period in which he was reconsidering his ambitions as a composer. The results, including the Three Mazurkas, opus 59 or the Sonata No. 3 in B minor, opus 58 are among the best work he ever wrote. You will hear El Bacha on Chris Maenes impressive copy of a Grand Concert Pleyel Piano dating from 1843.
