Ticket sales for the Asian Cup matches have now started, Dubai’s Platinum List has announced. The ticketing platform said cricket fans can buy the tickets online.

Fans, however, are waiting a long time due to demand.

One resident, Zafar Mahmoud, said he queued at the site at 5:30 p.m. Now that he has finally entered, he has 7,574 people ahead of him, with an estimated wait of over an hour.

“If you’re in the queue, don’t worry, this was put in place to give everyone a fair chance to get their tickets,” Platinum List said. “Due to extremely high demand, a fair, first-come, first-served purchasing policy has been put in place.”

Separate landing pages have been created to purchase tickets for matches in Dubai and Sharjah stadiums.

Fans were asked to keep the page open. “When ticket sales…start…you will be placed in a queue if there are buyers ahead of you, and when it is your turn, you can buy your tickets.”

The Asian Cup, originally scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka, will be played from August 27 to September 11. The highly anticipated clash between India and Pakistan will be played on August 28 in Dubai.

According to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), tickets for the cricket tournament were due to go on sale on Monday, August 15. However, they did not specify a time, resulting in dozens of residents lining up at the website in the morning.

According to comments on the ACC’s Twitter post, some fans tuned in as early as 4:30 a.m. Others said they waited over an hour to log into the website, but couldn’t find the event listed.
