Norwegian organization buys place of IGC’s MIBR BLAST Premier team members

Norwegian esports organization Heroic has become a BLAST Premier member team after acquiring the slot from Immortals Gaming Club, following a highly competitive bidding process.

Founded in 2016, Heroic is one of the best Counter-Strike teams in the world and is currently ranked fifth in the HLTV rankings. They join other leading esports and CS:GO organizations in owning a location for the BLAST Premier member team.

The Norway-based organization, with huge global success, recently won ESL Cologne Europe 2020, taking first place in ESL Pro League Season 13, finishing fourth at the BLAST Premier 2021 Fall Finals in the iconic Royal Arena in Copenhagen and finishing 3rd/4th in the Stockholm Major 2021 and IEM Katowice 2022.

After Immortals Gaming Club decided to sell the Members Team Slot, a very competitive and thorough bidding process was launched with a number of esports and Counter- Leading strike showing interest in selling slot machines.

IGC, owner of MIBR, was an original founding member team of BLAST Premier and has played on the tournament circuit since its inception in February 2020, competing in nine BLAST events during that time.

Charlotte Kenny, Managing Director of BLAST Premier, said, “We thank MIBR for being one of our partners over the past two years. Their renowned and passionate Brazilian fanbase ensured that there was never a dull moment, even when we had to switch to online-only shows in 2020. We look forward to bringing them back to participate in our Global Qualifiers and our Regional Showdowns in the future.

“We are delighted to welcome Heroic on board, they have proven through their performance on the server over the past few years that they belong alongside the world’s Counter-Strike elite. Their impressive performance in last year’s Autumn Finals in Copenhagen highlights what they will bring to our tournaments. The level of interest, competition and investment shown for this slot highlight just how much BLAST Premier has grown in the last 12 months alone.

Joachim Haraldsen, CEO of Heroic, said: “Today marks an important milestone for Heroic Group. Our entry into BLAST Premier provides us with a unique position alongside the biggest brands in our industry and a platform for collaborative growth in which we strongly believe. We are truly impressed with the product that BLAST has built so far and are excited to contribute to the continued success of the tournament as one of 12 members.

The BLAST Premier Circuit will continue to offer non-member teams the opportunity to reach the ultimate stage of CS:GO competition through the Global Qualifier Series, which spans key regions around the world and feeds into the Spring and the fall of the tournament series.

BLAST Premier is one of the world’s leading Counter-Strike tournament series, hosting the best players and teams, providing opportunities for regions around the world, and crowning CS:GO world champions. Up to 32 of the top teams compete in the seven BLAST Premier events throughout the year with a combined prize pool of $2,475,000 at stake.

BLAST Premier member teams: Astralis, NIP, G2 Esports, OG, Team Vitality, NAVI, FaZe Clan, Complexity, Team Liquid, Heroic, Evil Geniuses, and BIG.
