A data miner discovered a list of SNES games buried in the NES Online app right after last month’s update. However, it ends there. Someone else discovered additional emulators in the app as well.
Rated by Nintendo Life, another data miner (@OatmealDome) found four different types of emulators in the NES Online app.
- Kachikachi (NES Classic)
- Canoe (SNES Classic)
- Hiyoko (???)
- To count (???)
It was also pointed out by @OatmealDome, that the NES Online app is basically a port of the NES Classic emulator. So, could we also see a port of the SNES Classic emulator? The list of newly discovered SNES games would confirm this evidence.
Two more emulators were also found, which could indicate that more emulators are coming to the service or even more classic consoles. If that’s true, I guess the next line of games would come from the Game Boy and Game Boy Advanced. However, it wouldn’t surprise me if one of them was the N64.
Adding SNES games and two more additional systems would make the Nintendo online service an absolute must-have for all Switch owners. Having several of the best games of all time available to you wherever you are would be amazing. Hopefully Nintendo gives everyone what they want and makes the Netflix subscription-style virtual console dream come true.
