New Ventures Maine will host the online course Venturing Forth: Business Planning for Entrepreneurs starting January 26.

NEAR ISLE, Maine – New Ventures Maine will host the online course Venturing Forth: Business Planning for Entrepreneurs starting January 26.

The course will help new entrepreneurs or existing business owners create a written business plan with feedback from facilitators and fellow entrepreneurs. The 14 week course covers topics such as customer, competition, marketing, record keeping, taxes, financing, legal and more. Classroom activities, guest speakers, and homework assignments lead to the business plan and roadmap for success.

Three follow-up networking sessions are planned. Applicants must complete an online application and attend an orientation and one-on-one interview to participate in this tuition-free course.

Applications must be sent before noon on Tuesday January 18 and are available at newventuresmaine.org.

The in-class orientation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 19, from 10 am to 11:30 am. Individual interviews are scheduled from January 19 to 21. Participants will meet remotely via Zoom on Wednesdays from 9:30 am to noon and 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm from January 26 to April 27.

“Over the past two years, we’ve seen a dramatic increase in interest in starting small businesses in Maine,” said Karleen Andrews, NVME Microenterprise Specialist, Trainer for the Venturing Forth course. “We also continue to witness the challenges many small businesses face during the pandemic. A written plan is essential for creating and maintaining businesses in this environment.
