A 22-year-old man from Kambah has been charged with sexual assault and other offenses following an incident in July 2022.
The 22-year-old arranged to meet another man through a dating app and visited that man’s home in Phillip on the evening of July 24, 2022. The couple had consensual sex that evening there, then again the next day.
Police will allege that on the night of Thursday, July 28, 2022, the 22-year-old returned to the Phillip residence and administered a substance to the other man, rendering him unconscious, then sexually assaulted him, stole possessions of the man’s residence, and erased the man’s phone before leaving.
The victim reported the incident to the police the following day.
Members of the ACT Policing Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT) executed a search warrant at a residence in Kambah on Saturday July 30, 2022 and located property believed to have been stolen from the victim.
On Sunday, July 31, 2022, police executed a search warrant on the 22-year-old’s phone and vehicle. The man was then taken into custody.
The man will appear in ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday August 1, 2022) for sexual assault without consent, burglary and theft.
